Summary descriptions are provided in Table 6 and 7 for the separate research functions within IMMORTAL for the main impairment factors. This research profile demonstrates a broad coverage of risk factors, with particular emphasis given to the risk areas of R1 (Ageing, mental illness and medical disease) and R4 (Alcohol, drugs and medicines).
The two research workpackages will employ a number of methodological approaches, which will complement each other by providing comprehensive knowledge. The approaches to be used are:
Literature review - reviews of state-of-the-art knowledge.
Epidemiological and survey studies - examination of accident cases and driving population.
Experimental studies - empirical investigation of impairment factors.
