The DTF is an independent
institution within the Ministry of Transport. DTF undertakes research approved
by the Council Members who represent various institutions, organisations and associations
with relevance for road safety. Furthermore, DTF assists the Minister of Transport and
relevant ministry departments in road safety issues. DTF's mission is: to institute,
support and co-ordinate research into road safety in Denmark, to supply Danish authorities,
organisations and others with results of national and international road safety research
and to keep in contact with authorities abroad to achieve close relations to foreign road
safety researchers. Furthermore, DTF is seated in formalised working parties under OECD,
FERSI and EU. Research tasks mainly concern road user behaviour, use of vehicle technology
and safety equipment.
Inger Marie Bernhoft graduated as a Master of Science in engineering from the Technical
University of Denmark (1970) and has worked at DTF since 1976. She is a research manager
with research and publications on: elderly drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, road user behaviour,
drunk driving, licit and illicit drugs and driving, travel surveys and accident analysis.
From 1997 to 1998, she was the Co-ordinator for and in charge of dissemination, management
and administration as well as work package leader in the EU-project ADONIS of 4FP. She takes
part in the working party on alcohol, drugs and Medicines and driving, under the DG7
High level Group on traffic safety and is a member of International Council on Alcohol,
Drugs and Traffic Safety (ICADTS).
Lotte Larsen is a psychologist and graduated from University of Copenhagen (1982)
and she has worked at DTF since 1986. She is a research manager with research and publications
on: road user behaviour, accident studies based on police reports, in-depth accident analyses,
traffic informatics, speed, attitudes, environmental effects on driver behaviour as well
as co-operation with physicians in casualty departments and hospitals. She was involved in
the EU-project Gadget of 4FP and is a member of International Association of Applied
Psychology (IAAP) and European Association of Transport Psychologists (EUROPSYT).
